Kajkanten Vrångö

Vrångö

I’m currently on assignment on the island of Vrångö, a few nautical miles  off Sweden’s west coast. I’m here to experience Kajkanten, an upscale hotel that offers guests an opportunity to stay in cozy boathouses in one of the car-free island’s harbors. The building with the black roof is where I’m writing this.

About 350 people call Vrångö home and so far, I’ve seen two small churches here but plenty of surprisingly large and truly beautiful wooden houses. The literal translation of Vrångö is Angry Island. I have yet to uncover why it’s called that.
