Coco, Tyko, Ceasar & Me
This scene is from our house on 849 North Alfred Street in West Hollywood. Either my mother or my father took the photograph in 1967, probably using a Kodak Instamatic camera with one of those square bulb flashes (aka Flashcubes) introduced a couple of years prior.
I am holding our young cat, Caesar, and Coco, the family’s four-legged matriarch, is keeping at least one watchful eye on the kitten.
If memory serves, the two creatures got along fine. Sadly, though, I think that Caesar’s tail got caught in the back wheel of my Schwinn bike or Tyko’s and had to be amputated. He survived and looked like a cute tiny mountain lion with a stub where his tail had been.
This photo will definitely be included in the new book Dogs I’ve Met & Pet.
