Blue
The color blue has always spoken to me, though never of sadness or melancholy. For me, blue is the color of stillness, depth, and release.
Above all, blue is the color of the ocean and the extraordinary calm I feel whenever I am submerged in it, whether diving or simply holding my breath beneath the surface for as long as I can.
I still remember diving in the early 2000s and hovering twenty meters below the surface with about the same distance below me.
The world above seemed to disappear. Noise softened into a distant murmur, gravity loosened its grip, and time appeared to slow down to a more manageable pace. There was nothing to do but breathe, observe, and remain suspended in that immense blue space.
While perfectly buoyant, my mind was so quiet. Everyday concerns lost their urgency, and the boundary between my body and the surrounding water became almost indiscernible.
Weightlessness somehow protected me from both the past and the future.
What I experienced was not so much excitement as a profound sense of immediacy – that rare feeling of being exactly where I was meant to be, with no desire to be anywhere else. Blue.
